winter weather update

Church family, our hearts are with you. We know many are still navigating the effects of the winter weather—especially those without power or heat. Please know you are deeply loved, prayed for, and not alone. We’re grateful that power has been restored to the church, and we look forward to gathering for worship this Sunday at 10:40 a.m. There will be no Sunday School this week, but we invite you to come a little early and warm up with us at 9:45 a.m. for coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and shared fellowship. If you’re able to join us, please use caution in the parking lot, as some slick spots may remain. And if you need to stay home, know we understand and are holding you in prayer.

What’s Your Story?

Writing Your Personal Testimony

One of the most powerful ways to share the Gospel is through your own story. Your testimony is a unique witness of God’s grace in your life.

When I was a student at Troy University, I met a friend named Jamie whose life had been radically changed by the Gospel. His testimony was dramatic—turning from a life of rebellion to new life in Christ. When he asked me to share mine, I hesitated. I came to Christ at age 10 and thought my story wasn’t as significant. Jamie reminded me that God had protected me from many hardships he faced. There is great joy in an early conversion! Every testimony—whether dramatic or quiet—is a story of God’s saving grace.

So, how do you write and share your faith story? Start with these three questions:

1. What was I like before I received Christ?
Share about your family, interests, and attitudes toward faith before knowing Jesus.

2. How did I receive Christ?
Describe what led you to Him—a person, event, or circumstance. Speak of repentance from sin and belief in Christ along with the truth of the Gospel.

3. How is Christ changing my life now?

Talk about the difference Jesus makes in your attitudes, desires, and daily walk.

Tips for Writing Your Testimony

Do:

  • Pray for wisdom as you write (James 1:5–6).
  • Emphasize how Christ is working in your life today.
  • Begin with an engaging opening, and end with a strong conclusion.
  • Include personal details and at least one Scripture verse.
  • Edit carefully for clarity.

Don’t

  • Use Christian jargon without explanation.
  • Overemphasize past sins or criticize others.
  • Give the impression that life in Christ is always easy.

Sharing Your Testimony

When asked to share, speak with love and enthusiasm in the Spirit’s power (Ephesians 5:18). Be clear, natural, and avoid distracting mannerisms. Don’t argue or pressure—remember, people are born of the Spirit, not by human persuasion. Smile, be genuine, and practice until it feels natural.

Your story matters. Take time to write it out and share it with a friend. God may use your testimony to lead someone to faith in Christ!
