winter weather update
Church family, our hearts are with you. We know many are still navigating the effects of the winter weather—especially those without power or heat. Please know you are deeply loved, prayed for, and not alone. We’re grateful that power has been restored to the church, and we look forward to gathering for worship this Sunday at 10:40 a.m. There will be no Sunday School this week, but we invite you to come a little early and warm up with us at 9:45 a.m. for coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and shared fellowship. If you’re able to join us, please use caution in the parking lot, as some slick spots may remain. And if you need to stay home, know we understand and are holding you in prayer.
The Music Ministry at SVC exists to glorify God by:
leading his people in worship through music.
forming his people through songs that teach and admonish.
equipping all ages by nurturing musical abilities.
strengthening the bonds of unity by emphasizing congregational and choral singing.
Congregational Singing
The primary voice that sings at Stephens Valley Church is that of the congregation. We deeply value robust congregational singing and invite all who gather for worship to eagerly lift their voices with us.
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir leads our congregational singing, regularly presents anthems and other service music, and is prominently featured in our annual Christmas celebration. Membership is open to anyone of high school age and older. There are no auditions, but it is essential that one be able to carry a tune, and ability to read music is helpful. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 6:40 – 8:00 PM (childcare is provided).
Seasonal Choir & Other Opportunities
While we strive for consistency in the choir, we understand that not everyone can participate year-round. If you’re interested in singing for our annual Christmas celebration or our summer outreach event near the July 4th holiday, please contact Zach Young, Director of Music Ministries.
As a growing church, our music ministry is expanding, and there are many opportunities to get involved through singing or playing a musical instrument.
Our graded choir program seeks to develop in its participants a love for music, a joy in singing and playing instruments, and a desire to use their voices to worship God and encourage His church. Children’s Choir consists of activities that are developmentally appropriate, using the Growing in Grace curriculum.
The choirs meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:15 PM during the school year.
