winter weather update

Church family, our hearts are with you. We know many are still navigating the effects of the winter weather—especially those without power or heat. Please know you are deeply loved, prayed for, and not alone. We’re grateful that power has been restored to the church, and we look forward to gathering for worship this Sunday at 10:40 a.m. There will be no Sunday School this week, but we invite you to come a little early and warm up with us at 9:45 a.m. for coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and shared fellowship. If you’re able to join us, please use caution in the parking lot, as some slick spots may remain. And if you need to stay home, know we understand and are holding you in prayer.

Showing Children the Comfort and Hope Found in the Good Shepherd

VBS at Stephens Valley Church

Travis Lamb, Pastoral Staff—Intern

“Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” –Matthew 19:14

This year’s Vacation Bible School will center on one of the most beloved and perhaps most memorized passages in all of Scripture, Psalm 23. This world often leaves children anxious and searching for security. Every day next week, though, they will hear the wonderful truth that the Lord is our Shepherd who knows His sheep, provides for us, leads us, and never leaves us. Throughout the week, all the volunteers, from music to games, will seek to show the comfort and hope found in belonging to the true Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ
(John 10:11).

VBS is so much more than a week of activities. It’s an opportunity to remind children and their families of the lasting love and care of Christ through His church. A good number of children who attend will be first-time visitors or families looking for a church home as well. Your warm welcome, encouraging conversation, and prayers help immeasurably for them to experience the love of Christ in tangible ways. Psalm 78:4 reminds us that we are called to “tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD.” So, any day next week, even if you aren’t an official volunteer, come and help show the love of our Savior to these wonderful kids! If not, please join us in praying that God would use this week to draw children and their families to Himself and into the life of His church, where they can continue to grow under the care of the Good Shepherd.
