winter weather update

Church family, our hearts are with you. We know many are still navigating the effects of the winter weather—especially those without power or heat. Please know you are deeply loved, prayed for, and not alone. We’re grateful that power has been restored to the church, and we look forward to gathering for worship this Sunday at 10:40 a.m. There will be no Sunday School this week, but we invite you to come a little early and warm up with us at 9:45 a.m. for coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and shared fellowship. If you’re able to join us, please use caution in the parking lot, as some slick spots may remain. And if you need to stay home, know we understand and are holding you in prayer.

Praying for Summer Impact

summer at Stephens Valley Church

Pastor Benny Collins, Assistant Pastor of Outreach/Interim Youth Pastor

Summer is here, and we are praying for a significant impact as SVC prepares for several outreach opportunities in our community. Soccer Camp, June 1–4, will likely bring 80–100 children to enjoy World Cup-style tournament games and hear the gospel each day. Please pray for our SVC youth who will serve as camp counselors, for the many adults volunteering throughout the week, and for Coach Richard Stewart as he serves as head instructor. Through small-group coach talks and a large-group message each day, the gospel will be clearly proclaimed. Pray that children will come to know Christ and that new families will be reached. Please also pray that new families will sign up for VBS. This week will be filled with fun, laughter, and new relationships. We need many counselors, volunteers, and supplies, but most of all, we need prayer. Please set aside time each day next week from 8:00–11:00 a.m. to pray for eternal impact in the lives of many children and families. Feel free to invite any friends or neighbors with children in 2nd–10th grade. Walk-ups are welcome to register and participate!

The following week, June 6–12, our Belize team will travel to serve Path of Grace Church. Our team of 15 is excited to return and serve through VBS, service projects, and home visits. This Sunday, May 31, the team will host a Belize Benefit Breakfast in the Café at 10:15 a.m. The funds raised will help purchase much-needed kitchen supplies for Path of Grace and support other projects for the church. Please consider giving and praying for our team as they serve in Belize.

Also in June, our Parent’s Day Out program will host Summer Camp each week. This is a wonderful opportunity for young families to learn more about our church and build relationships with members of our church body. Please pray for a meaningful impact in the lives of the children who participate. Summer Camp is for ages 1–4, and there are still spots available! On June 28, we will enjoy a Patriotic Celebration as we celebrate our nation’s 250th year! Dinner, choir concert with orchestra, and dessert following. This will certainly be a highlight for our community and church body!

As we move into July, our youth will travel to RYM (Reformed Youth Ministries) Beach Camp from July 3–7. Please pray that our students will grow deeper in their faith as they gather to worship, learn, and enjoy time together. Our children will then enjoy VBS on July 13–17. This is always a tremendous week of ministry, as many children from our community come to play, have fun, and hear the good news of Jesus each day.

These are just a few of the many opportunities ahead this summer. Our youth also have a full calendar of additional events and service projects. Our women will gather for Tuesday Night Bible Study as they study the book of James, and our men will grow together through a Summer Book Study on Saturday mornings. I cannot list every summer event, but I hope you get the picture: summer at SVC is not a time to slow down. We are moving full speed ahead! I hope you will participate as you are able, and please pray daily for our church. These activities are not simply meant to provide fun moments, but to have eternal spiritual impact. We long to see lives transformed by the gospel and our church body grow deeper in faith and obedience to our Lord Jesus. Let’s go!
