Scholar in Residence
Before I became Scholar in Residence at Stephens Valley Church, I preached for several congregations of the Church of Christ from 1960–1999. Additionally, I served with En-gedi Ministries (a Reformed ministry) from 1999–2001. I have a Ph. D. from the University of Kansas (1984) with an emphasis on Renaissance and Reformation history. I taught at Wichita Collegiate School from 1971–1988 and Lipscomb University from 1986–2011 where I served as professor of history. My classes included Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance-Reformation, Byzantine, and Middle Eastern history as well as European political thought. My wife Alice and I have had the opportunity of several lengthy periods of living, studying, and teaching in Europe. We have been married since 1960 and have two sons and three grandchildren. I enjoy playing the piano, model railroading, traveling, and making movies.
